Hi Carl, thank you for your thoughts and comments on my blog. I agree that what DC did was wrong and he certainly brought the Olympics in to disrepute. As I pointed out in my article there are many reason why a young man would take drugs and cheat his fellow competitors. I guess where you and I have a different opinion is to whether DC should be allowed to represent his country or not if he has been rehabilitated.

Warmest wishes

Hello Ajay, I do appreciate you commenting on my blog but I don't think the death penalty was an option open to the BOA on this occasion.

Warmest wishes

Yes we are all human, but if you cheat you cheat. Athletes are given the opportunity to represent the country, to be an idol for millions, to claimi adoration and financially reap the rewards from sheer hard work. So why cheat to keep up? Thats all it is, you can no longer compete with the Worlds greatest as you finish no where near them, so you cheat to keep hold of your lifestyle. You have to be honest with yourself, there could've been other sports that DC could try with all the expert help, but he was greedy. Nobody forced him to take the drugs, it was his choice to cheat. I have no sympathy for this man, nor for any other cheat. I take the stand to say: Any athlete convicted/found to be taken performance enhancing drugs should be banned for life from every athletics meet ever again - at all levels. Let tehm go and find a normal job in the job centre. They had a chance, but a normal job like the people that view over the years, is what this guy should do - if you can't make it, don't fake it. To wear the colours of a nation upon your chest is an honor not many get, be proud of what you did achieve, then retire/coach, advise/commentate - never ever resort to drugs cheating to hold on to a dream that you have no real chance of getting - DC was GB's fastest sprinter, yet was never in teh top 5 in any Olympic meet, therefore, we are not that good sprinting - simple. He could've helped coach the guys to replace him, or even find then replacment.

Typical soft attitude of you christian suckers. Many of us still believe in punishment and retribution as in the death penalty. Those of us who remember the 50s know the country was a far better place to live before the lefties supported by the Xtians started their destructive work, basically turning every perpetrator of whatever misdemeanor into a victim and stuff the rest.

Hi D, thanks very much for you contribution to my Eulogy to uncle Dennis. You know that in eternal time space continue a day is as a thousand years, all is a minute, a moment, the now, all of what we call history is crushed into a punctuated present of "being & da sein" I've enjoyed reflecting on my shared experience with my Uncle over the last 40 years and have gained a perspective of life I shall cherish to the day I make the transition also.

Love to you

Kriss - it is always wonderful to celebrate the legacy of those that are dear to us rather than mourn their passing. We all know there is only one certainty in life (and what that is!)Hopefully you will see your uncle in much longer than a minute!

Hi Kriss,
May I ask if you are familiar with the issues presented in 'The Long Emergency' by James Howard Kunstler?
We were registering our new son today, saw you and wondered if you share similar concerns!

Ha-ha Mark as usual written with you timely sense of fun and good humour. What we experienced as we each took our turn from leading at the front of the pelaton (is the the professional word for it) was well described in one of the many lesson from Geese. Canadian Geese when migrating across Europe home bound fly in a V shaped formation taking turns to lead from the front giving the group a 30% up lift in speeds while lightning the load. When one gets knackered (colloquial term) they tuck into the flock conserving energy until they recover. We were exposed to the geometrical realities of both these dictates in our bike ride. Thanks Mark for you very enthusiastic participation throughout the event not just on the ride but in the e-mail banter and fundraising stakes for TACT's good cause. People like you are the salt of the earth and I'm happy to call you friend and fellow ghost buster :-) You did look funny with that contraption on your back but you soon whiped the smile off my face when you speed of at silly miles an hour for the first few sections :-) remain blessed and a blessing x Kriss
